2017 Little Yarra Pinot Noir
The 2017 Vintage was temperate with ideal ripening conditions, producing expressive and concentrated wines throughout the Upper Yarra Valley. The 2017 Little Yarra Pinot Noir highlights this depth of flavour and natural acid, creating our most balanced and mature red wine to date.
Grown without pesticides or herbicides, the Pinot Noir was thinned to one bunch per cane at fruit-set in early February, then hand picked and sorted in the vineyard in March before transportation to the winery. Fermentation was in a single pot fermenter, with 40% whole bunches placed on top of the remaining destemmed whole berries.
Matured in 30% new oak : 70% old oak for 9 months, before racking and bottling without fining or filtration, this graceful vintage displays concentrated red cherry and raspberries, balanced by a raft of fine tannins and natural acid.
The low cropping regime, in line with our less is more approach, maximises quality to offer the greatest reflection of the vineyard and vintage. While quality is maximised, quantity is reduced, resulting in 180 dozen bottles of this vintage being made, stock is extremely limited.
